Jessica’s Smile was founded by Sue Sherrington following her daughter’s (Jessica (aged 12 at diagnosis))

diagnosis in October 2016 with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.

Jessica’s Smile aims to raise funds for children, aged 2-16 years, currently receiving treatment for

cancer or leukaemia at the Great North Children’s Hospital, RVI, Newcastle. It is our intention to

make an award to all newly diagnosed children from 1st January 2017, up to the value of £125, to help bring the fun back into their lives after receiving their devastating diagnosis. The awards enable the child and their family to choose anything at all that will help to brighten their lives. Some examples are:

  • New games console (or new games / accessories for an existing console)
  • Family day out to a theme park / zoo / theatre / attraction
  • Contribution towards a family mini-break (e.g. Center Parcs) or camping equipment
  • Musical instrument
  • Visit from a children’s entertainer (magician, disco etc)
  • Family photo session with a professional photographer

The list goes on and on and is different depending upon the age of the child. The child can apply for

the award any time up until they finish their treatment.
